Happy Banana Cream Pie Day – Monday, March 2, 2020

Happy Monday! And happy 2nd day of March! Can you believe that Spring Break is next week? This year has flown by so fast!

In the classroom this week…

Bible – This week, we are preparing for Children’s Church, this Sabbath, March 7. This program will be run by the students in our classroom. Since the students voted to do this as the classroom community service, each student will have a part to complete for the actual day. Each student will be given credit for their participation. Your support is needed. Our theme is The Armor of God. We have activities, snacks, songs, and the Bible to learn from. It will be a blast! The kids are excited and so am I!

Math – Fractions – Last Thursday and today have been study days for the test, for group #1. Tomorrow will be the TEST DAY. Any student that still has corrections or missing work, will not get to take the test until they have it all turned in. Group #2 is still working through the lessons in Fractions.

Reading – Last week, we started our final book of the quarter. It is a short informational book about the Mount St. Helen’s volcanic explosion. We will read every day and have an assignment to work on every day in class. To end out this book, on Thursday, March 5, students will need to bring some sort of volcano. This is fun way to celebrate the topic of the book. Student volcanoes can be anything: mentos and coke, baking soda and vinegar, soap, etc. There will be awards for the highest explosion, the best ooze, and the most creative display. Also, remember, both PR books and book reports are due by Wednesday, March 4.

Spelling – no spelling this week

Language Arts – We completed our test last week. Today will be corrections and tomorrow will be our typing test for the quarter. The rest of the class time this week will be used for a study hall time.

Science – In Chapter 1, we are learning about biology, why it’s important to learn about, and how it is the building block of knowledge for all things alive and research of it.

Social Studies – In Chapter 6, we begin learning about Ancient Greece. We are learning about its geography, beliefs, rulers, etc.

Grades/Missing assignments – Missing assignment sheets were given to students today. At this point, at the end of the quarter, any students that are missing assignments will be missing recess/ fun time to get the assignments found, completed, and turned in. ALL back work needs to be turned in by Wednesday, March 4. Any assignments that are not turned in on that date will be given a zero.

Outdoor School – Outdoor School is coming soon! It will be March 22 – March 27. This is a Texas Conference planned and supported trip, so it is one that I request ALL students attend. Each student received their Outdoor School fee sheet on Friday. This amount needs to be paid by Friday, March 6. If writing a check, make the check payable to the school with “Outdoor School” written on the memo. If paying in cash or credit, feel free to pay in the office. If you are unable to pay that amount by the above date, please contact me personally before next Friday. All Outdoor School paperwork needs to be turned in by Friday, March 6.

Need Volunteers – We are at the end of our sponsorship for serving lunches on Mondays. I want to get the students back into the classroom on Mondays, during that time, and would love to have volunteers prep and serve lunches for the rest of the school year, starting in February. If you need parent hours, and would be willing to do that, please let me know.

Children’s Church – It is this Saturday. Please make sure to be at the church by 10:45am. I am trying to get tshirts for the kids, so jeans/pants will be appropriate to wear for working with the kids. We are discussing/ practicing/ planning for our event on Sabbath… and the kids are starting to get excited! Any parents that are also willing to help, would be much appreciated! Please let me know. Thank you!

Class information – Remember to check Classtag every week.
