Happy National Fun Day – Monday, April 4, 2022

Happy Monday! I hope you were able to enjoy the beautiful weather outside this weekend! I had the awesome opportunity to go to the Natural Science Museum with the Adventurer group from church. We looked at the butterfly exhibit and walked around the garden across the street. It was absolutely beautiful!

In the classroom this week…

Bible – This week, we continue our study on Jesus’s Sacrifice and His True purpose coming to the earth. This week’s focus is on the last week of Jesus’s life and what each of those situations taught the community about God the Father through Jesus. This lesson will take us through to Easter and we will finish after the Easter holiday.

Math – We are still learning how to organize statistical data, just like last week with Mean, Median, Mode, and Range. This week’s topic is on graphing. We will be learning how to interpret, analyze, map, graph, and create graphs. We will learn about Ordered Pairs, Line Graphs, Line Plots, Bar Graphs, Double Bar Graph, Frequency Tables, Pictographs, Histograms, Pie Chart/ Circle Graph, Stem and Leaf Plot, and Box and Whisker Graph. These topics will be learned over the next two weeks.

Reading – This week we continue reading our Pathways book, “Esperanza Rising”. It is about a girl’s experience with loss and love, and how she deals with them from an immigrant’s perspective. Along with reading our Pathways book, we are learning about Figurative Language, how it is used, and how to identify it within our reading.

Spelling – Pretest is on Wednesday and the Test is on Friday. Our words with week are tricky. We have some homophones – words that sound the same but are spelled different and mean different things. We also have some words that are not the same, but could be misspelled to mean something else.

Language Arts – We finished our project last week. I am giving a little time to make sure the project is complete today and tomorrow. Our next writing adventure is a research paper. Students will choose their topic of interest, research it, and then write a 5 paragraph essay about it with sources. I will walk them through the process, beginning this week.

Science – This week, we continue learning about Electricity and Magnetism, in Ch.14. We will see how electricity and magnetism are related, and how they work generators and motors.

Social Studies – We are learning about the culture of Rome and how it all began. We are learning its history, culture, and the important people that impacted the Roman culture. We will also be choosing topics to do interest reports on. Students will read more about their chosen topic and write up a summary of what they have learned.

Sub days – This week, I will have a sub on Friday, April 8.

Scoliosis testing – The girls in the classroom need to bring tank tops on Thursday and Friday for their back exams. Also, if you haven’t turned in your release form for the exam, please do so as soon as possible. Thank you!
